ICS Will Roll Out To The Sprint HTC EVO 3D And EVO Design 4G By Early August

If you’re a user of the HTC EVO 3D or EVO Design 4G on Sprint then we have some good news for you, Ice Cream Sammich is headed your way!  Granted, it won’t be arriving until early August but it’s better than nothing. Sprint today said via its official community site that the updates will begin rolling out in early August but they didn’t mention any specific dates only saying to “stay tuned”. The full changelog is here if you’re interested in reading it:

  • A refined, evolved user interface that is simple, beautiful and useful
  • Face Unlock: use state-of-the-art facial recognition technology to unlock your phone with a smile
  • Redesigned camera app which introduces Scenes like Panorama, and Effects such as Vignette, Depth of Field, Vintage and Posterize
  • Web browser now lets you sync Google Chrome™ bookmarks, request full desktop versions of sites, see your open tabs in a new layout
  • People: browse friends, family and coworkers, see their photos in high-resolution and check their latest status updates from Google+
  • Improved keyboard with incredibly accurate typing, an inline spell checker and improved copy and paste support
  • Redesigned Gmail™ app that now lets you swipe between conversations to catch up quickly and search for emails even without a data connection
  • Google+ integration that lets you hangout and video chat with up to 10 friends using your front-facing camera

This sounds great for owners of the aforementioned phones and should be a nice update. Keep it locked on the sight for more information regarding the update!

I'd love to say something positive and constructive about this development but fate and frustration have brought me to a place from which I simply cannot. I'm so frustrated with Sprint and HTC right now that I'd like to drop them both but this is real life and Sprint has the plan that works for me right now and HTC has the phone whose build quality, physical attributes and software features suit my needs, so come August 1st, I'll be trading in the GS2 EPIC 4G TOUCH ( already officially ICS enabled ) that replaced my EVO 3D, moving on to the next HTC flagship and looking forward to a protracted and infuriating wait for even the most incremental of updates.... again.... Congrats to my brethren who will be enjoying this grotesquely overdue update. At least it will arrive before Sprint's current HTC flagship is two versions ahead of you.

Would this work if you have this phone on Cricket. My buddy has it, but not on Sprint
