Lenovo is taking an interesting strategy with their Ideapad K1. I’m not sure if I agree with it, but it’s definitely something new. It has reached the end of its life, no longer being sold or supported. So Lenovo decided to release a completely stock build of Ice Cream Sandwich for it. No bloat, no modifications. There are more “no”s. No support. No Play Store. That last one is what kinda kills it.
A tablet without the Play Store is mostly useless to most consumers. I mean, it’s better than nothing (hackers can throw in the Play Store easily, and do other great things with stock ICS), but I’m not sure it was the right move. Now, if they included the Play Store, it would have been the perfect move. Still, it was nice of them.
If you want to read instructions, download, and install this build, hit this link and be cautious.
