Missing The Camera Feature On Your Google Nexus 7?

Are you missing the camera feature on your Google Nexus 7?  No, your new tablet isn’t defective.  Mine didn’t come with a camera app either.  The newly released Nexus 7 tablet comes with a 1.2 megapixel front facing camera and no camera on the back.  So it really doesn’t surprise me that the device didn’t come with the camera app.  Google is probably expecting us to mostly use the front facing camera for video chat and not self portraits, but I’m sure some of you would still like to at least have the option.  Maybe use it as a mirror to do your makeup?  Anyways, XDA Senior Member Paul O’Brien of MoDaCo made a sweet little tool to bring you the use of your front facing camera in all of its 1.2 megapixel glory.  Apparently, the important parts of the camera app are already on your device, there’s just no way to access it.  So all this app is is a launcher to open the camera app.  You can use it to take pictures or take video.  The camera app itself is exactly what was demonstrated at Google I/O when the Nexus 7 tablet and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean were announced (check out the video below).  You don’t need to be rooted, all you need to do is hop on over to the Google Play Store and install the Camera Launcher for Nexus 7.

So, are you glad you actually have access to this feature?  Think it’s silly Google left this out of the stock apps?  Let us know your thoughts…
