Pantech Announces New 5-inch LTE Phone Designed With Koreans In Mind

Pantech has announced a new 5-inch Android phone dubbed the Vega S5.  This new smartphone will be released early this month in Korea.  Pantech states that the phone was designed with the average Korean individual in mind.  The average Korean hand measures 8cm wide and the phone is designed so that the user can hold it with one hand and allow their thumb to access all areas on the screen.  Here are some of the key features of the phone:

  • Qualcomm LTE processor
  • IPS-HD LCD screen
  • 13 megapixel camera with tracking focus feature allowing you to film moving objects with zerl shutter lag
  • T-DMB tuner
  • Smart Voice voice-recognition system that works with multiples applications such as Google Maps.
  • 2100 mAh battery
  • The worlds first WTR RF chip which is designed to reduce power consumption.
  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
The phone will be available in either White or Black when released.  No information has been released on the cost of this new device.
I’m interested to find out how this device sells in Korea.  This is the first time I’ve heard a manufacturer develop a device geared towards a specific culture.
