Sony has been a hot topic in mobile tech right now. With Samsung using them as a scapegoat for their fight against Apple, and their phones/tablets not exactly taking off as they would hope, Sony has been a dark horse of sorts in this spectrum. However, Sony’s new “Xperia Tablet” seems to be quite a powerhouse in the tablet market.
To break it down for you, the tablet will be sporting an anodized aluminum-magnesium alloy shell with splashproof glass covering the front. It will be a wedge just like the Tablet S, weighing in at about 570 grams. Inside, it will be packing a NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, a 6000mAh battery and three tiers of storage: 16, 32 and 64GB. It will use a 1MP shooter on the front and an 8MP camera on the back, a step up for most tablets today. Finally, the tablet will have full Playstation support and Sony’s full entertainment suite. This will undoubtedly be Sony’s hook with this tablet, as playing a Playstation quality game on a screen with a resolution of 1280×800 pixels is absolutely nothing to scoff at. In addition, users will have access to Netflix, Hulu Plus and much much more right out of the box.
Many accessories are confirmed as well, including a Surface-style keyboard, docks and more.
IFA is on the way and Sony has confirmed its attendance. It’s likely we will see an official announcement of the device very soon.
