Soon you may be able to use your Ice Cream Sandwich platform to order an actual ice cream sandwich. Residents of San Francisco, New York, Seattle, Chicago, Boston, Washington and Toronto took part in a one day experiment last week that tested out an app for on demand ice cream trucks. The app’s creator, Uber, came up with this idea through their business of using smartphone apps to summon rental cars.
Michael Pao, a general manager for the company, is confident in the endeavor: “We’re offering a new way to experience ice cream similar to transportation. Opening your app and tapping a button and having something show up is magical when it comes to transportation. We feel it will be magical for other things too”. Friday’s experiment was well received and the company is looking forward to adding more trucks on the road for future trials.
Would you use this app if it became available to your area?
