AT&T Announces ‘Mobile Shared’ Plans Launching August 23rd
All we’ve been waiting for from AT&T since the announcement of their “Mobile Share” plans was a release date, and as of this morning we know they are launching on August 23rd. AT&T’s new Mobile Share plans allow a customer to pick a data bucket starting at $40 for 1GB all the way up to $200 for 20GB. After the selection of the data plan, devices attached to said data plans are charged between $30 – $45 per smartphone, with the price decreasing per line as you buy bigger data plans. The 1GB plan carriers a $45 smartphone charge, 4GB plans carry a $40 smartphone charge, 6GB carries a $35 charge etc etc.
As it stands, AT&T’s plans almost mirror Verizon’s own shared data offerings, with the differences coming on how each company is billing the per line charge or data charge. Which company turns out cheaper really depends on which data plan you choose, along with how many lines will be using it.
AT&T is throwing in a nice perk, you get unlimited mobile hotspot functionality regardless of which plan you use, so shared data is truly shared across all devices that can connect to any Wi-Fi hotspot connection.
AT&T’s got a full PDF breakdown of all the new plans.
