Developer Community Creates Petition Requesting HTC To Release Source Code Quicker

HTC has been notably slow when it comes to providing essential information to the Android community. Even though the company is required to share the Linux kernel source code with the public, the Taiwanese manufacturer usually waits a “90-120 day” period which hampers custom development.

To shorten the period in which the developer community gets access to the code, consumers have taken Change.org to start a petition with an aim for at least 7,000 signatures. So, If you own an HTC device, or simply want to make the dev community a better place, be sure to check out the petition and show your support.

"Hacker" has a very negative connotation in this day and age. Since the Linux kernel source code is free. I would assume "Development Community" would be more Appropriate/Appealing to the average user.

How about this. Buy from a company that listens to it's customers. HTC has forgotten why they were making so much money last year and now it's fans have forgotten why they bought HTC in the first place. Samsung is doing a much better job at doing the things that convince people to buy their phones.
