Back in May, the Wall St. Journal originally reported that there would be multiple Nexus devices released by Thanksgiving of this year. Since then, however, the rumors have been quiet with fanboy speculation running rampant over the legitimacy of the claim. Although we have seen the release of 2 new devices, in the Nexus 7 and (now the defunct) Nexus Q, many await the additional devices originally mentioned by WSJ. Well today a tip was received that Japanese carrier DoCoMo’s fall lineup has leaked and it includes three possible Nexus devices.
The rumored devices on the list include the Samsung Galaxy Nexus II, the Sony Xperia Nexus, and the LG Optimus Nexus. As was originally expected, there was to be up to five Nexus devices. Taking into consideration the Nexus 7 and Nexus Q, it could very well be possible these 3 smartphones are the remaining devices from that group of 5. What’s most interesting is that there is no mention of an HTC device. Perhaps this could be an issue with a lack of finalization of HTC’s entry or has Google made the decision to not partner with the Android backer. Also absent is Motorola, whom Google may not be giving a chance to develop a Nexus device to avoid upsetting it’s Android vendor partners.
At this point, these rumors are expected to be just that – rumors. Leaks continue to trickle out regarding new Nexus devices as the public eargerly anticipates a new device’s release. DroidDog will continue to keep you updated as new information is released.
