Motorola DROID RAZR M 4G LTE Outed Again In Leaked Pictures, And They Call This Mid-range?

Motorola has been stepping up their game as of late and this latest leak proves that they’re trying to bring mid-range to a whole new level. Behold, the DROID RAZR M. A “mid-range” phone that features specs like a 4.3″ qHD Super AMOLED Advanced display, 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 1GB RAM, 8-megapixel rear camera with 1080p video recording, 3-megapixel front-facing camera, NFC, on-screen buttons, Android 4.0, full global support, and 8GB internal storage paired with a microSD card slot. Feel free to sit back and take a moment to soak in the fact that this is being branded as a mid-range device.

Now for the price which is just $149 on a two-year contract. That’s the same price as the DROID Incredible 4G LTE but this packs a much beefier spec list. Another thing to add is that this will also reportedly come in both white and black color options. We’re hoping to see this unveiled alongside the DROID RAZR HD at Motorola’s event on September 5. Meanwhile, you guys can sit and salivate over the beautiful industrial design that this device brings with it. If it’s not too much trouble, then give your thoughts about this new “mid-range” phone in the comments below.

Ugh.  Another of countless tiny 4.3" screens.  This one is even worse:  A portion of the screen space is wasted on the buttons... that could EASILY fit on the bottom edge of the device instead.

The only reason they're calling this a "mid-range" Android device is because of the screen size.  Every other spec is great.  These days, the only way an Android device can be regarded as "high-end" is if its screen size exceeds 4.5".  I think 4.3" is a sweet spot for screen size.  I owned the original HTC Evo 4G and loved the size of it.  Anything smaller than that is too small, in my opinion.

Huh?

No 2gb of usable memory.

Only 8gb of storage.

No quad-core CPU.

On-screen buttons that totally waste the already limited screen-space.

Which of those are "great" exactly?

Even older June 2012 devices have better specs.

1)The Snapdragon S4 outperforms the Tegra 3 quad-core in benchmarks.

2)Quad-core is hugely over-rated.  Also, you can't put an LTE radio on a quad-core chip yet, thus the S4 is used.  Either way, both chips perform equally as well in day-to-day use.

3) 2GB RAM is a marketing ploy at best.  Today's phones can't utilize more then 1 GB anyway; so to say you want 2 GB is absurd.

4) I don't consider on-board storage as a real issue in my opinion, because I utilize the cloud for basically everything.  For everything else, I have a micro SD card (which most people who have ever owned a smartphone already have anyway).

5) As for on-screen buttons vs. soft buttons, it really comes down to personal preference.  Neither implementation has any bearing on whether a device is considered high-end or mid-range.

And they're going to call the newest iPhone with the 4.0" screen a high end phone...just watch. It's actually pretty pathetic how far behind on hardware the iconic iPhone has become...

Which is really more embarrassing for Motorola:

Motorola made a phone far LESS powerful than the iPhone... and the iPhone greatly outsold it.

Motorola made a phone far MORE powerful than the iPhone... and the iPhone still greatly outsold it.

Moto Atrix HD is also powered by a 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4, but has a 4.5" HD display. And priced at $100 on contract at AT&T. Much better deal in my opinion.
