The day has finally come and unless I’m smoking crack like Apple’s attorneys were asked about yesterday, it appears that Motorola has launched a bootloader unlocking tool. Through the site, you can unlock your Motorola Android device if it’s supported. Motorola has tons of warnings about it and all sort of validations and such before you can unlock the bootloader but you actually can unlock it!
Before unlocking, you’ll need to download the Android SDK along with Motorola’s drivers. There are plenty of instructions that are pretty clear to follow and you’ll need to make sure that your device is supported first. Though when I clicked to see which devices were supported, it gave me an access denied message that Droid Life has also reported. Either way, this sounds like excellent news for hackers and people who love to mess around with the software of their phone. Give us a shout in the comments if you’re going to give this a try and remember that DroidDog is not responsible for any damage that may happen to your device in the process.
