Even though it was never officially a Nexus tablet, the Motorola XOOM (at least the WiFi version) still gets updates very quickly. Now that the tablet has got it’s bump to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, we weren’t expecting any sort of update for awhile. It looks like that could be changing for the better though as a new email is being sent out to soak testers informing them that a new update is on the way. The aforementioned email reads:
Thanks for joining the Motorola Feedback Network. We are inviting owners of the Motorola Wi-Fi Xoom (U.S. only) to participate in an early preview of a new software release, and provide feedback. If you are not currently using a Motorola Wi-Fi Xoom, please excuse and ignore this email.

We’re not expecting anything much more than bug fixes and improvements in this update, but it’s still good to see Motorola and Google backing the first Android Honeycomb tablet. If any of you still have a XOOM laying around and happen to be part of the soak test group, be sure to let us know how the update’s going once you get it.
