According to a new report, it appears Apple has lost its powerful position as the number two smartphone manufacturer in China. Last quarter, Lenovo managed to outsell the iPhone and rise from number seven to number two in the Chinese smartphone market. However, that wasn’t the end of Apple’s marketshare trouble, as ZTE also managed to move up a position from number four to three, pushing Apple down yet another rank. As expected, Samsung garnered the top position with a whopping 19 percent share, which was unchanged from the first quarter.
In terms of numbers, 87 million units were shipped last quarter alone, making it the first time more smartphones have been shipped than feature phones in the country. Considering China has over 1.3 billion citizens, this figure may seem a bit low, but it’s an important feat nonetheless.
