Android Activations Reach Half a Billion; News Announced the Night Before Apple’s iPhone 5 Event

Senior Vice President of Mobile and Digital Content at Google, Andy Rubin, has announced via Twitter that “there have been half a billion android activations to date, with over 1.3m added every day”.  This information comes right before Apple’s big announcement about the iPhone 5 tomorrow and we should not overlook that this was most likely shared for that very reason.

Last week, we told you that Eric Schmidt spoke at the Motorola keynote event, revealing 480 million Android users to date; meaning in less than a week, 20 million activations have taken place.  Shaking in your boots a bit, Apple?

Apple doesn't wear boots. Pitchforks and red capes maybe, but not boots.

Apple doesn't shake in their boots with news like this. They're too busy patenting letterbox screens. It doesn't matter that they're already on plenty of phones, they made it so the USPTO will grant it. I freaking hate Apple so much...

They'll sue. Because you can't make announcements on the eve of their announcements. They own that day...
