Motorola Says No Joy To ATRIX 4G Ice Cream Sandwich Update

Motorola might have given ATRIX 4G owners a little bit of hope earlier in the week by addressing future Ice Cream Sandwich plans with a short statement saying “further plans coming soon,” giving some reason to believe Motorola would provide an update. Unfortunately, “soon” came almost right away as Motorola has updated the ATRIX 4G page and made it official, the phone will stay on Gingerbread Android 2.3.

It’s a disappointing development, and an unfortunate aspect of being inside the Android ecosystem, but such is the life we pay for being at the mercy of carriers and manufacturers. All the more reason our newfound cheer around DroidDog is “Go Nexus or go home.” Ok, so maybe we don’t have a cheer, but the more we read and write these kind of stories, the more appreciation we have for the Nexus lineup.

#MOTOFAIL

What you failed to mention was that the 'hope' was due to a commitment they made earlier this year to update the Atrix.  It was scheduled for Q3, and then on the last working day of the 3rd quarter, they broke their commitment.  Horrible behavior, Moto.

You have lost many customers as a result of this behavior.

BIONIC XT875- ICS Upgrade

OK so the Bionic will get it. That one out of seven devices. Although technically not ALL that pretty bloody close.

Oh wait the Bionic is OMAP. My mistake. Then I guess my original Tegra2 statement still stands.

It's ALL Tegra2 Moto's not just the Atrix.

Good thing I've had ICS on my Atrix since April... Screw you Motorola.

As is with the Milestone (droid) X2. Pretty much the same exact thing happened, and for a while after its release the MX2 was moto's flagship phone. Sadly, no ICS love :/

Expected of Motorola: Hence why I will never buy another of their products. The phone is more than capable of running ICS and above.
