New Survey Claims Interest In Android Development In Decline

It’s no secret that Android hasn’t always had the best developer support, but this last year has made some serious strides. A new survey suggests that might no longer be the case, as it states that Android development interest is in a decline. However, 76% of the developers surveyed are still very interested in Android.

In January of last year, interest in Android development was sitting at about 87%, and has declined ever since. In comparison, iOS is leading with a solid 85% of developers very interested. We’ve seen some great strides in Android development, but the last thing the little green robot needs is a lack of interest. What do you think? Do developers need to step it up again?

Umm...Yeah, I'm looking at that graph and everything but windows 8 tablets are in "decline" A possible explinaiton for this is there are more than enough apps to fill demand thus developers need to look where there is demand for app (A.K.A. a place where there aren't hundreds of thousands off app)

MtDewFella Its definitely a good way to look at it. Not to mention "interest" does not correlate to actually doing. I have an interest in buying a windows 8 tablet, will I do it? Probably not. I am happy with my current one, and usually only buy once a year for tablets. Not to mention that many developers will develop for multiple platforms, so this information might be more interesting and telling if we talk about "unique" developers. People developing for only one platform. Which is common for new starters who are entering the development world. Also, we have to determine was counts as a "developer" and an "app" and so on. There are many ebooks on all markets that can be counted as being from "developers", and also, many developers will make multiple apps. ..... So, in short, this data is like those fun math questions in elementary school where you got to choose "D. Not enough information"
