Redbox For Android Updated To Third Version, Adds Better Design, Improved Filtering

In the last few weeks, I’ve had to move my movie renting life over to Redbox, so when I caught wind of this update, I was very excited. In recent weeks, Redbox has removed the old Blockbuster Express units from my local groceries and replaced them with their own units and they are far, far better. Given that, the timing of this update couldn’t be any better as Redbox updates their Android app to its third version.

The update adds a whole new look making browsing a lot easier, enhanced filtering, and the ability to sort by date or alphabetical order, all of which makes this a wonderful improvement. Of course, no Android app is complete until it has push notifications and that’s another addition to Redbox’s new Android app. The notifications will offer “Redbox updates and freebies” and you can even use a coupon code right in the app to reserve a movie for pickup.

I’m not familiar with previous iterations of this update, but reading around the web it seems this update is very welcomed. Unfortunately, no mention of streaming capabilities has been found, but we’re still hopeful that’s coming soon.

What’s in this version:

  • New design!
  • Updated filtering options
  • Ability to sort titles by arrival date and alphabetical order
  • Push Notifications for Redbox updates and freebies
