Samsung and Motorola are getting a bit of justice today, as a German court ruled that neither of them are infringing on a patent that covers how an OS responds to and ignores touch events. That Apple patent was deemed too broad, thus saving the two companies from having their phones taken off the market. This was probably due to the involvement of patent lawsuit expert Florian Mueller.
This could have been a disastrous loss for both companies, as no software update could keep the devices from infringing on it. It’s a very important and basic patent. We’re glad they were found not to infringe on it though.
