Samsung Denies Korea Times Galaxy S IV Rumor, Focus On Galaxy S III

Rumors were rampant yesterday surrounding Samsung’s plans for a new Galaxy SIV as soon as March of this year. It made sense – afterall it would Samsung’s release schedule for such a device. Well today Samsung, via its Samsung Tomorrow branch, has flat out denied the rumor and news coming out of the Korea Times story. The story claimed the Galaxy SIVwould be announced at Mobile World Congress the last week of February 2013, with a release in March.

Lets keep in mind these aren’t new tactics for a tech company interested in selling as many models of its current flagship, so a strong denial doesn’t surprise us any more than word leaking of a new model already in the pipeline. Much like the iPhone trend, Samsung is not interested in seeing reduced sales of the Galaxy SIII due to people waiting for a new model this upcoming Spring.

The Samsung rebuttal (from Twitter) roughly translates to :

Please note that some media reported speculation that the Galaxy S Ⅲ subsequent models will be released in a simple rumor is not true. … why spread these rumors?

Stay tuned to DroidDog for continued coverage of any new Samsung handsets including a new Galaxy SIV.

One last note... While I wouldn't be surprised if they do have plans in the works for the next Galaxy phones with talks already in the works, I also believe this possible launch date was started by an Apple loyalist. Think about it... the next iphone is about to launch so why would someone care to buy the S3 when they know they are working on an S4 already.

I think it was just started to try and take some of the heat away from the Galaxy S3 sales. Poor Apple.. They will try anything to keep on going.

March of THIS year huh? Geeessshhh time flys... I thought we were in September of 2012 I didn't know it was March already. You would think that the writer of this article would know the order of the months... unless they are from the future and this was written in 2013. The good news from this would mean the end of the world isn't in 2012. LOL
