Google has been expanding (albeit at a very slow pace) the various types of content its Takeout data data migration tool can handle. Well the company has included a key piece of content to the tool – YouTube videos. On a post on the Google Data Liberation blog, YouTube engineer Brian Hawkins states that the new Takeout feature allows users to download the same files they originally uploaded to the service. This is great news for YouTube users that uploaded and eventually lost the original files they had. Previous download solutions through YouTube itself only provided access to the transcoded video files that the site serves to users.
