Apple CEO Tim Cook Sides With The Late Steve Jobs, Says 7-inch Tablets Are Compromised

It almost came as a shock when Apple released the iPad Mini, featuring a 7.9-inch display. Why was it so odd? Because just a few short years ago, former Apple CEO Steve Jobs stated that Apple had no interest in making a 7-inch tablet. As is turns out, 7.9-inches makes quite the difference, and current CEO Tim Cook is sticking to Jobs’ belief.

“We would not make one of the 7-inch tablets, we don’t think they are good products,” said Cook in an earnings call earlier today, also stating that he believes current 7-inch tablets on the market are “compromised.” We’re not quite sure what Timmy has going through his head right now, but the last time we checked 0.9 of an inch isn’t that big of a difference.

Apple does a great job of saying something is a terrible idea until they start losing money because of it, and then they finally get on the bandwagon, and somehow claim to "innovate" by doing that. Take the recent change in size for the iphone...took them 3 years, and a huge chunk of the market to realize that people wanted larger screens. Apple stopped "innovating" with the first ipad...everything since then has just been a poorly rehashed version of the previous year's model.

I'm sure Mr. Cook must be an intelligent man... I just wish he's stop hiding it. It must some sort of tactic--he's going to spring a real zinger on us somewhere down the road and we'll all go "oooo" and "aahhh". Or not.

That's just his way of saying they should've been the first in the market with the 7" tablet and they missed out in a gold mine! He's just bitter. If what I said made any sense. Haha

JQuest81 Yep. They went with 7.9" to be different from the Android tablet crowd, and now they're using excuses to say that 7.9" is better.
