Telus Getting Rid Of Activation Fees, An Idea We Can All Get Behind

Telus is doing something admittedly amazing: they’re getting rid of activation fees. Usually, new customers would have to pay $35 along with their device, and existing customers would pay $25. No more, you won’t be hit with random fees when buying a phone. This is part of their “journey to be fair and transparent and help customers understand when they are paying for tangible products or value-added services.” It’s working, guys.

To compensate for those fees, they will be charging $10 for SIM cards. This is totally fine by us, prepaid carriers charge for SIMs too. Plus, if you already have one, you don’t have to pay anything. I wish US carriers were a little more like Telus, in this case. Just no 3 year contracts please.
