Following HTC’s recent settlement with Apple late last week, Samsung has gone on record stating they have no intention of negotiating with the Cupertino, CA company. This news comes from Samsung’s Mobile Chief, J.K. Shin, who told the Yonhap News Agency that the company will bank on a legal resolution instead of an out-of-court settlement.
The HTC settlement occurred this past Saturday when the Taiwanese company settled its long-running legal dispute with Apple. Many observed the move as a smart decision who perhaps could not sustain the same financial damages issued to Samsung this past summer. Some had wondered whether Samsung may end up doing the same.
In his statement Shin said he doesn’t intend to negotiate at all with Apple, illustrating just how far apart the two companies are. While Apple scored a significant victory in the U.S., there are a number of legal clashes going on around the world, all with varying levels of success so far for either side. Clearly it is becoming apparent Samsung is finally starting to show they are not intimidated by Apple.
