Final Fantasy Airborne Brigade is a mobile game made by Square Enix. At first, it was exclusively for Japan, but due to its huge popularity, Square Enix plans on launching the game in the US and Canada.
Square Enix is joining forces with DeNA, the creator of the social games platform Mobage, to bring Final Fantasy Airborne Brigade to North America. The game will be free-to-play, and will be launched in celebration of Final Fantasy’s 25th anniversary.
Kenji Kobayashi, DeNA’s executive game director said,
“We’re very proud to offer Final Fantasy fans based in the US and Canada our own take on the themes and ideals of the series with the upcoming launch of the mobile game Final Fantasy Airborne Brigade. In celebration of the franchise’s 25th anniversary this year, we strived to create a unique gameplay experience where players can elevate each other through fun, cooperative play.”
Final Fantasy Airborne Brigade has over 3 million users in Japan, so there’s no doubt that it’ll be a success in North America. It is also primarily a social game. Each player gets their own airships. They go around the Final Fantasy inspired world to kill monsters and find items that are renown throughout the Final Fantasy series. Players will also be able to team up with each other to form airship brigades and fight bosses.
If you’re interested in playing Final Fantasy Airborne Brigade, you can pre-register at their website. By doing so, you’ll also receive a 3-month exclusive card that’ll allow you to summon Cloud from Final Fantasy 7 in-game.
