Acer Iconia B1 May Compete In $99 Tablet War

It looks like ASUS isn’t the only one gearing up to release a $99 tablet. Acer has just announced that it will be revealing their latest 7-inch tablet, the Acer Iconia B1 in early 2013. We’ll possibly be seeing this device at either CES or MWC.

The specs for this device includes:
- 7-inch 1024 x 600 display
- 1.2GHz dual-core Mediatek processor
- 512MB RAM
- 8GB storage with microSD card slot
- Bluetooth 4.0
- GPS
- Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean
- SIM card slot
The Acer Iconia B1 clearly screams budget-friendly, and it’s a bit surprising to see that it can run Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean with very little ram.
It’s awesome that so many budget-friendly tablets are being prepped for 2013. It may also just be my personal opinion, but the Acer Iconia B1 has a very attractive design for a supposed $99 device. Also the price-tag is still under speculation and we could see this tablet go for around $150-$190… but that wouldn’t make too much sense because for that price-point, people can opt for the better Amazon Kindle Fire series and the much better Nexus 7.
