After An Eternity, LG Optimus 2X Gets Ice Cream Sandwich

In a shocking turn of events, LG has finally released Android Ice Cream Sandwich for the LG Optimus 2X. After having the update announced, cancelled, argued over by different regional LG social network pages, and just seemingly forgotten about, it was released in Korea over two months ago. This of course prompted a drop of source code, which helped the modding community a lot, but regular people were stuck. Finally, LG decided to release it internationally. The 4.0.4 update can be downloaded using the LG update utility, so you’ll need a computer around.

If you still have an Optimus 2X in use, you should update it immediately. The difference between Ice Cream Sandwich and older versions is massive, if you didn’t already know. Also, what do you guys think? Does this bode well for the Optimus G? It’s still on Ice Cream Sandwich, while 4.1 and 4.2 have been released and 4.2 is running on near identical hardware. Tell us in the comments!

I waited so long for the update on the LG G2x on T-Mobile, this factored into 'throwing in the flag' and purchasing a Samsung Galaxy SIII.  I'll have to think long and hard before ever purchasing an LG phone again.

jb8von Very fair. The G2X still doesn't have the update, for the record. Just the Optimus 2X in other parts of the world
