The Galaxy S III may be Samsung’s flagship, but its predecessor, the Galaxy S II, is still alive and kicking. With a dual core Exynos 4 processor, a great 8MP camera, and a gorgeous (if very low res) Super AMOLED Plus PenTile-free display, it’s still a fantastic phone to have (it’s my daily driver). And lucky for us, it’s still being supported. While it has an Android 4.1.2 update incoming sometime early 2013 in Europe (along with the new TouchWiz and Galaxy S III features), the AT&T version just got a small OTA.
The update takes the phone from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4, which doesn’t seem like much. But Samsung had redesigned TouchWiz 4 significantly for 4.0.4, so you’ll see a fairly big difference in stability, smoothness, and UI design. No official changelog has been released though.
The build is I777UCLK3 and Samsung claims it is Kies only, but many users are reporting they are getting it as an OTA. So keep your eye out for a notification for an update if you still have one of these beauties in your possession.
