Google Employee Somewhat Confirms Android 5.0 Will Be Called Key Lime Pie

Although everyone has been calling the next Android OS,  Key Lime Pie, it has never actually been confirmed whether or not it would be named that.

A Google employee, Manu Cornet, has somewhat confirmed the Key Lime Pie name by drawing a graphic that shows the evolution of Android. The graphic follows the same ” monkey to man” depiction of the human race, but shows the evolution of the Android robot through the years.

The evolution depicts how Android has gone from awkward and rough from Android 1.0 Cupcake to bold and confident in Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. There’s also speculation that Android did not become fully erect until Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, hence why the Android bot is still a little hunched in Android 3.0 Honeycomb.

There’s still one confirmation that we need, and that’s whether or not Key Lime Pie’s version number will be Android 5.0… or if it’ll just follow-up Jelly Bean with Android 4.3.

Hopefully with this confirmation, we might start seeing what Key Lime Pie looks like soon. However most of us are still waiting for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and Android 4.1-4.2 Jelly Bean to hit our devices, so I guess I’m just jumping a little ahead of myself.

Not to ruin your article, as it is a good one, but Android 1.0 was never released, the first release of Android was 1.5 and that was Cupcake. Android .5 and Android 1.0 were beta before even Google owned Android. And I really don't think Android 5.0 will be Key Lime Pie as now that Google is back to doing the normal numbering system, KLP will most likely be Android 4.3 much like Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, and Gingerbread were successors to 2.0. The only reason they did a numbering system jump was to signify that ICS was above Honeycomb but also compatible with phones. Thus, Android 4.0 instead of Android 2.4
