Google has just launched In-App Billing version 3 for Android apps, and it offers a bunch of new features that makes life for Android developers much easier.
- The first change is an improved, simpler design. The new design will make applications easier to write, debug, and maintain. Integration no longer require hundreds and hundreds of codes. It can be done in as few as 50 lines of code.
- The second change is a new, robust architecture that will result in fewer transactions being lost.
- The third change includes local caching for faster API calls.
- The final change adds a new functionality that allows apps to consume managed purchases and query for product information.
All of these changes will help make it more easier for developers to integrate In-App Billing if they haven’t done so already. In-App Billing Version 3 works for all Android 2.2+ devices with the latest version of Google Play and it works with any in-app items with support for subscriptions coming shortly.

It looks like we can look forward to a future of apps with in-app purchases. This opens a whole new world of possibilities for apps. Maybe we’ll see a subscription based MMORPG for the Android in the future.
