Google Search Updated, Includes Post To Google+, Song Recognition, And Barcode Scanning

Google Search has been updated on the Play Store today, and it brings some cool new stuff to Google Now. There are a few new cards, such as:

  • Events nearby
  • Suggestions to help with research
  • Boarding passes from Gmail (at the moment it’s limited to United, but will be expanded)
  • Search by camera when at museums or shops
  • Weather at a travel destination
  • Approximate monthly summary of walking and biking activity

There are also some new voice actions, and I must admit, I like them a lot. The first is to post to Google+, which is fairly useful if you use the social network. The next is what the screenshot shows, and that’s asking “What’s this song?” It’ll listen, just like the music search widget, and give you a card with the name of the song and a link to the Play Store. You can also say “Scan a barcode” to find product info. Quite a big update for us! Hit the source link to grab it if you’re a Jelly Bean user!
