Huawei Ascend D2 Revealed – Has A 5-Inch Display And Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

Huawei has just revealed information on its potential Samsung Galaxy Note II competitor. Its latest device, the Huawei Ascend D2, features some great specs and will probably be released at a low price point (considering this is Huawei).
The Huawei Ascend D2 has the following specs:
- 1.5GHz k3V2 quad-core processor
- 5-Inch 1080p HD display
- 13MP rear camera
- 1.3MP front facing camera
- 3000 mAh battery
- Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
- Huawei Emotion UI
The device features great specs, but it is most likely unable to match that of the Samsung Galaxy Note II, especially with Huawei’s self-manufactured processor.
The Huawei Ascend D2 will be Huawei’s flagship phone that they will be revealing at CES in January. Huawei’s CEO, Yu Chengdong, said,
“Seeing friends starting to release 5-inch 1080p phones, we will release a flagship phone – Ascend D2 – at the CES global consumer electronic show in January next year. I’m worried that if the D2 specifications are too high, the cost is too high. So, will it become the super enthusiasts favored dream phone? Anyone can guess.”
The Huawei Ascend D2 will also feature Huawei’s own Emotion UI overlay. It actually seems to be an elegant and attractive UI. It seems easy to use and easy to customize. You can see the Emotion UI in action via this video:
So what do you think? Would you opt for this “Samsung Galaxy Note II competitor”? I think it all comes down to pricing at this point, and we all know that Huawei is known for their budget-friendly price points.
Huawei is making quite a presence lately in the cell phone world and they are making their mark again with the D2 which will be a high end phone for the power users. I like a large display, but let’s see if that extra cost for screen catches on when tablets could be less expensive. I currently use my Note II for work and watching a lot of TV, and of course, occasional pictures. The larger screen of both of these phones, along with my DISH Sling Adapter that my DISH coworker gave me, allow me to watch TV anytime I want. I just downloaded the DISH Remote Access app on my Note and iPad and now I watch more TV than I ever did when I would try to find time to watch at home.
