Fuhu, creators of the Nabi series of tablets, are known for making tablets for specific age groups. The Nabi XD is specifically made for “tweens,” but I can’t help but want one. Here’s a quick spec list:
- 10.1″ 1366×786 IPS display
- Quad-core Tegra 3 processor
- 16GB or 32GB storage capacity
- Front and rear cameras
- Aluminum body
- Android 4.1
So you get a fairly nice IPS panel, a quad core, 16GB of storage, and Jelly Bean. All for $250. Anyone else think that this is what Google should have done for the budget Nexus 7′s big brother? Not to replace the Nexus 10 but be alongside it?
They also offer a keyboard accessory that doubles as a cover. It looks a lot like the cover for the Surface, and that’s probably a good thing. All this runs Jelly Bean with a custom UI called Kanzi. It can change layouts depending on the time and location and it has a ton of proprietary widgets. Doesn’t sound too bad, since it’s Jelly Bean underneath and you can just change the launcher if you don’t like it.
So what do you think? A high powered 10″ tablet for only $250 ($350 for the 32GB model). Is it a great buy? Or do you not trust the brand? Tell us what you think in the comments!
