New Rumor Says Samsung Galaxy Note III Will Feature 6.3″ Display

If a new Korea Times report is to be believed, Samsung is planning to produce a 6.3″ display for their next generation Galaxy Note for a 2013 arrival. That’s a pretty big bump in display size considering the jump between the current Galaxy Note II and its predecessor was only 0.2″. According to the Korea Times rumor mill, Samsung will work to maximize display real-estate with a new OLED model.

Exact specs for the Galaxy Note III are unknown, but if the size of the display does in fact turn out to be 6.3″, we really need to have a discussion about where the line between smartphone and small-tablet begins and ends.

There’s no question Samsung has enjoyed success with the Galaxy Note line and will continue to do so, but at some point Samsung might want to consider focusing on the internals and leaving the display size alone. I might be alone in this thought, but the current idea of the Galaxy Note works as a smartphone/tablet combination, any larger than this, especially a full 0.8″ larger could make our usage different enough that we begin to consider just buying a Galaxy S III size device and a smaller tablet. There’s definitely a lot to be said about convergence for a device like this, but when is big too big?

Devices over 4.5 inches are to be used with bluetooths! If your not willing to purchase a bluetooth, you shouldnt be investing in this kind of technology. Only a fool would hold this device, a Note 2 or a Note 1 to their face!

Believe it or not, but I would consider purchasing one of these Note III's. I have yet to buy the Note II but it is in my plans. I am a current VZW and Razr user, but may well be a Note II and Sprint user soon. Why Sprint? Bigger corporate discount on bill every month.

Why the heck do we even need this?!? Just buy a 10" Tablet w/ 3G & you can call & text all you want.. You won't look any more stupid than with this.

If the way they get to 6.3" display is by significantly or completely reducing the bezel size then thats good.

In terms of width the Note 2 is pretty much the widest you can make a phone while keeping it manageable for one-handed use. I still occasionally have problems with it and I have large hands (big enough to barely palm a basketball).

There are large spaces (bezels) on the top and bottom of the Galaxy Note 2 that could be reduced to fit a 6.8" screen. What Samsung will need to do is eliminate their physical home button and capacitive buttons and replace them with on-screen/software buttons.

ClarkKent113 I agree with your post. I would be scared to look at that size a phone if they kept the bezel and physical buttons they way they are.

ClarkKent113 Plus, people would really look funny talking on something that big!

@jhernandez4688 @ClarkKent113 Devices above 4 inches should be used with bluetooths. Period.

I say bring it. A 6" phone will allow me to get rid of my 7" tablet and my 4.5" phone... Well, that's if I'm even considering a Note in the first place. I really like 4.5". I've owned and tried everything from 3" to 5.5". Anything bigger makes it hard to use with one hand. Which brings me to my original statement. If I'm going to get a phone that requires two hands, I might as well get one that maximizes screen space while still fits in my pocket. (Even the Nexus 7 fits in my pocket).
