Say hello to the next-generation NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor, or at least what we believe is the next-gen Tegra processor thanks to a slide acquired by the folks at Chip Hell. We’ll just cut to the chase and say that if this slide is correct, the Tegra 4 is 20x more powerful than the Tegra 2 and 6x more powerful than the Tegra 3. The graphics cores will power screens up to 2560×1600, with 1080p output at 120hz.
There’s no sign of any increase in CPU cores, but we’re likely seeing a move to ARM’s latest Cortex A-15 setup. The Tegra 4 also adds support for USB 3.0, along with dual-channel DDR3L memory. In other words, WANT.
We’re hopeful that NVIDIA will bring the codename “Wayne” chip to the Consumer Electronics Show next month and show it off in all its glory. We’d like that very much.
