Republic Wireless Is Now Shipping The Motorola Defy XT To Pre-Order Customers

Republic Wireless, a new MVNO that’s a hybrid between Sprint’s network and WiFi, has just announced that the first shipments of Motorola Defy XT’s have shipped. The phones were shipped last friday, and they expect to ship thousands more soon so that those customers who pre-ordered the device will receive them in time for the holidays.

Republic Wireless offers unlimited calling, texting, and mobile data for $19 a month. What they expect from you however is that you stay connected to WiFi whenever possible. When you don’t have access to a WiFi spot however, you’ll be utilizing Sprint’s wireless coverage.

The Motorola Defy XT isn’t a smartphone that’ll blow your mind. In fact, it’s an extremely underwhelming phone. It features the following specs:

  • 512MB ram
  • 5MP rear facing camera
  • Android 2.3 Gingerbread
  • 3.7-inch high resolution display
  • 1GB ROM with expandable MicroSD slot
