In the Android world, it’s not uncommon for updates to take months at a time. It’s something we’ve come to deal with, and Google has begun to streamline it so that not every update is something that many consider must-haves. That’s why it’s good to hear that Samsung is finally updating the AT&T variant of the Galaxy Tab 8.9 to Ice Cream Sandwich. Sure, it may be a few versions behind, but it’s still a massive improvement from Honeycomb.
The only downside to the update is that it’s not coming in over-the-air, and the tablet must be plugged into Kies to update it. After updating my Galaxy S III through Kies, I don’t see this to be too much of an issue. The process is streamlined, and usually doesn’t take more than 15 minutes. Users of the Tab 8.9 on AT&T, plug your tablet into Kies and get it going. Once you’ve done that, be sure to head back here and let us know how the frozen treat is.
