South Korea Rules That Samsung Is Responsible For Employee’s Cancer

South Korea has ruled that Samsung is responsible for the death of a worker who was employed at their chip plant.

The Korea Workers’ Compensation and Welfare Service claims that the worker had developed breast cancer while working at their factory. She had worked there for five years, and had the breast cancer for three. South Korea has stated that there is “considerable causal relationship” between her working at Samsung’s factory and the development of her breast cancer.

Agency officials stated,

“There was an exposure to organic solvents and radiation. The earlier the exposure is, the more likely the cancer is caused.”

The woman was only 36 years old when she died from breast cancer. There was no radiation detector in the factory, and she was exposed to benzene and other carcinogens. South Korea is currently investing several other similar cases.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you think Samsung is directly to blame for its worker’s death?
