Android Jelly Bean Is Now On 10% Of Devices – Ice Cream Sandwich On 29%

Android 4.0+ has now taken over 40% of all current smartphone devices. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich accounts for 29.1% of all devices while Android 4.1/4.2 Jelly Bean accounts for 10.2% of all devices.

Gingerbread has dropped below 50% of all devices, but still takes the lead at 47.6%. What’s good to hear is that Android 1.0 Cupcake has finally dropped off the charts altogether.

These results were taken over a 14-day period which ended on January 3rd.

Now that a majority of devices are now on Android 4.0+, developers can now start focusing on the latest APIs. Who knows when Android 4.0+ overtake Gingerbread, but let’s hope that 2013 is the year that happens.
