Galaxy Note 8.0 Leaked Photo, Most Likely Fake

A photo of the Galaxy Note 8.0 has been leaked by the folks at SamMobile, and it really provokes some thought. Let’s dive deeper into this, shall we? First of all, the device has a speaker grille up top. That’s generally a feature reserved for phones, not tablets. Second, every Samsung Galaxy Tab to my knowledge has had a flash. My original Tab 10.1 had a flash paired with that terrible 5MP camera. This one just has a camera. Then, the back looks a lot like a Galaxy S III. That’s not enough to call it fake, but it’s ugly. I thought that should be mentioned. And lastly, the screenshot has a phone icon, the old weather widget from ICS builds for the old Tab models, and no navbar. The overall design makes little sense.

However, there is a chance this could be real but with a fake screenshot (we hope not). And the specs that come with it are the same ones we’ve heard many times, including the 8″ 1280×800 display, 1.6GHz quad core processor, 2GB of RAM, and the S Pen. What do you guys think? Real or fake? And is it sexy?

CallChrisNow Yes, Chris, I know. I was merely commenting that although this is a fake, it doesn't change the fact that the 8" device has been announced and I feel the increasing size of devices is getting ridiculous.

kanoneyez No 8" phone has been announced...but even if it had, so what? This would be a tablet? Whats the problem here.

kanoneyez Again, you point to rumors. These are nothing more than rumors.

Regardless, this device would simply take the place of the 7" tablet allowing the room needed for a true HD display...what exactly is the problem?

CallChrisNow  kanoneyez Technically, Samsung did mention the Note 8.0. It's nearly official. But the way I see it, have a 7" and 10" Tab, the two necessary sizes. The Note series will have an 8", but it's an entirely different product series. It isn't like they're releasing 4 different Tab sizes. Their Tab lineup is more mid end, while the Note is higher end.

Haloruler64  kanoneyez I still don't buy it until it's official. Things are "mentioned" so rapidly in the tech world these days, curved screens were mentioned, flexible displays, clear washing machines, all these things have been mentioned - CES being the worst culprit for vaporware. Until it's actually ANNOUNCED, it's not worth giving much credit to.

CallChrisNow  kanoneyez I firmly believe the same. We shall wait for MWC for the announcement.

Haloruler64 Its really not a big deal to me who is right or wrong either. Nor is it earth shattering if an 8" device shows up. Merely expressing an opinion. If the 8" does materialize and IF it replaces the 7", time will tell. My wife loves her 10" tablet. My Note II is plenty for my needs. When I want something larger, I have my laptop.

kanoneyez Can't disagree with that logic. I personally use a Note II and a Nexus 7, so I'm set. Wish I had a Nexus 10, but what can ya do?

I love Samsung products, but lately it seems they're just making things to see if "mud sticks to the wall." They have a 7" and 10" and now being announced soon the 8" tablet?! Then I read that the Note III is rumored to have an over 6" display. This is getting absurd. The absolute only way a 6" phone could make sense in my mind is if the stylus doubled as a blue-tooth headset such as in the ASUS padphone. I'm still waiting for a paper-thin tablet that folds into a pocket-size form and doubles as a phone.

kanoneyez This is a rumor kanoneyez. And a poorly shopped one at that. Sit back down take some deep breaths, and let the market punish companies that bring stupid products to market.

So that camera has got to be what...1.2" across once scale up the image? Haha this is an awful fake.
