Late Night Poll: How Much Are You Willing To Spend On Accessories?

Android Accessories

Today our DroidDog Senior Editor, Dima, reviewed a glass screen protector for the Nexus 7.  Did anybody who read that story notice the screen protector was $70?  It got me thinking, how much am I will to spend on accessories for my mobile devices?  The 16 gb Google Nexus 7 is $200, so is it worth adding a $70 accessory to the device?  That screen protector is 35% of the Nexus 7′s original price.  How much is too much for a mobile device accessory, or is there no limit?

How much are you willing to spend on accessories?

I’m genuinely curious your thoughts on this.  Obviously some accessories add functionality, others add protection or convenience, so its really a case by case basis.  But how much have you spent on a device accessory?  Are you stingy like me and never spend over ten or fifteen bucks?  Or is this your prized mobile device and it deserves to be covered the dopest swag?  Tell us your thoughts on this by commenting below…  where do you stand?

I'd be willing to spend 10-17% of its retail price on a phone, tablet, or laptop. In-Ear Monitors or headphones and I'd spend up to $350.

xPurplexAnarchyx I realize headphones are a device accessory, but they are also pretty universally usable between different devices.  So it makes sense to spend more money on something that isn't specific for one device.  $350 better get you some rippin headphones though...

@Brooks Barnard Haha, the Klipsch X10i are amazing, especially considering their size but they stick out of my ears so I can't lie on my side, may spend $100 on some Shure for comfort. Good argument, I need pretty good headphones if I'm going to listen to .flac or .alac music files.

To a point it's rediculous to over spend when there are less expensive alternatives. My brother will swear up and down that his $30 screen protector is VASTLY superior to my Tech Armor protectors.....$7 for 3 pieces. Guess what.....I've been using mine for 3.5 months now and it's PERFECT. He's been using his the same amount of time ...it has bubbles and looks like garbage. I like to have a few cases for wardrobe changes for my SGS3. Do I have any $30 to $50 cases? HELL NO!. I've spent around $70 and I have 9 EXCELLENT cases....and 2 of them were packaged with a screen protector. I chose wisely and I'm happy with my purchases. My brother spent $40 on ONE case. So we both spent the same amount of money. I have 5 screen protectors and NINE cases. He has one case and one screen protector. It's all about making WISE choices.

No, I would not pay $70 for a screen protector. Nor $20, nor $14.95 (around what the sheets of plastic go for at retail). Back when I still usedscreen protectors I'd order a pack of 3 or 5 from eBay or Amazon that worked just fine for a couple of bucks.Other accessories? I've been burned, so I'm very hesitant. I paid $40 for a car mount at T-Mobile which featured a suction cup. After 6 weeks in the Texas sun, the plastic on the suction cup literally crumbled and there was nothing left to hold the mount to the windshield. Too much? For something that falls apart, yeah.Headphones... My max is $20. I have a very nice pair of JVC sport headphones that don't fall out of my ears like normal earbuds do. Have spent more, and it just ends in tears when the cat chews the cable.Batteries? $100 for a Seido is just too much for a battery that you know doesn't cost $15 to make. Am I a cheapskate? Perhaps. Do I like being gouged on products that are often just a bit of plastic? Not in the least.

Not a lot let alone 1/4 of the price of the phone. give me a legit dock for a legit price. $40 dock for nexus 7 seems a little too much. then again I am a college kid so I can't afford a lot of things. lol

Total amount I'm willing to spend in accessories? Could be "limitless". That's different than how much per accessory though, I would probably pay up to $50 for an amazing dock for my tablet and $30 for my phone accessories (each).

Now I don't go buying the most expensive case out there, its about bang-for-buck. My accessories are mainly cables for extending device use (HDMIs, and the sort), cases, and maybe the occasional backplate or screen protector.I'm not the kind of guy that goes out to buy a $50 case though, like I said earlier I'm more around having multiple cases i.e. different designs (Cruzerlite cases) that come in with relatively good protection and look nice too.

I buy a lot of cheap accessories from Amazon. I would be willing to pay more for certain things like OEM dock and battery, but most other accessories are pretty much all the same.
