Acer was expected to show off a new tablet at CES, but someone ruined that surprise. Today we have a leaked photo of the Acer Iconia B1, a budget-oriented tablet set to compete with the Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire. With a dual core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 512MB of RAM, 8GB of storage, and a 1024×600 display, it isn’t impressive in any regard, but it is running an almost stock build of Android 4.1.2. It also packs a 2MP front facing camera capable of 720p video, something the Nexus 7 can’t say out of the box.
With 512MB of RAM, multitasking will slow this thing down, but otherwise it’s a fairly good tablet. Hopefully the price will be low, because when converting the price in Bulgaria to dollars, it’s about $235. Even at $200 there would be no compelling reason to get it in the US, but hopefully it’ll launch cheaper here. However, in places where the Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire aren’t available, this could be a good deal.
