The Design Of The HTC M7 Has Finally Been Revealed

The Design Of The HTC M7 Has Finally Been Revealed

The folks over at HTC Source have finally uncovered the true identity of the HTC M7. So far we’ve come across the new version of Sense, a leaked render of the device (which also looks nothing like the device), and several blurry cam shots. Multiple sources have confirmed that the above image is in fact the HTC M7.

It follows the same leak that said that the HTC M7 would feature a sleek all-black design. The device is taking some design tips from the HTC 8X and from the looks of it, that’s not a bad idea.

The sources are also saying that the carriers may have different color variations for the HTC M7, similar to the HTC 8X and its 5 different color variations.

I’m loving the design of the HTC M7. I loved the design of the HTC 8X, but I’m too infatuated with Android to switch on over to Windows OS.

I’m glad HTC made the decision to transfer the same design elements of the HTC 8X to the HTC M7 and I’m glad that they’re considering multiple carriers for the HTC M7 instead of giving one carrier exclusive rights to the device (*cough* HTC Droid DNA). Now everyone can have access to the HTC M7 while staying with their respective carriers.

Here are the specs that the HTC M7 will come with:

  • 4.7-inch 1080p 468ppi SoLux display
  • Quad-core 1.7GHz Qualcomm APQ8064 processor
  • LTE/HSPA+
  • 32GB internal memory (no expandable storage)
  • 2GB RAM
  • 13MP rear-facing camera
  • 2MP front-facing camera (capable of 1080p video capture)
  • Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean with Sense 5
  • Beats Audio
  • 2,300 mAh battery
  • IR Port

What are your thoughts on the HTC M7′s design?

Android is about unity htcs attempt to stand out Is not working i love how google uses nexus to set a standard of what is espected in new versions of android tou do not mess with those standard screw around with audio jack and power button placement but leave the button order alone tjat is like putting the iphone button up top just no

Pierre Alexandre Lemay 8 pts

CaptainChoco You seem to forget that even Samsung, the bigest seller of android devices (although definitely not my favorite skin) changed the button order... Nobody seemed to care if we look at how many gs3 were sold...

This_Jordan 5 pts

Reminds how Apple puts minor changes to its device. The look likes  a polished One X.  I love the 13 megapixal camera though

I know it's like hardly out anywhere yet...GoogleTV I'm looking at you, but what about Miracast?

roboguy12 31 pts

Still a lack  of software buttons, and now they're in the wrong order. When will HTC pay attention to Android design standards? Honestly, what's the point of messing with the order most Android users already know? This is reminiscent of Gingerbread-era phones where every OEM had to put their buttons in a different order to "stand out" or whatever, yet all it did was create a disjointed feeling between devices. The direction forward is uniformity over things like this, and HTC is moving backwards. (Especially since they're still hardware buttons anyway)

LaceyClapsadl Man there is no SD Card Slot. . .  . There's 32GB. If you need more than that... and I don't know why you'll have to buy another device.

tonkotsu 5 pts

EmbodyGreatness  LaceyClapsadl yup.. less sales for htc yay!

TheDark_Knight 77 pts

The phone looks awesome. I'm sure it feels great in the hand too. Sure it's not perfect for everyone but which phone is? I'd take this phone one 95% of the phones out there.

EmbodyGreatness 9 pts

TheDark_Knight I completely agree. Looks like it has the soft touch material on the back like the 8x and DNA. Can't wait to get my hands on this. Has all the specs I need.

samjpullen 5 pts

IR port ?...

What is this 2008 ? ;)

Pierre Alexandre Lemay 8 pts

samjpullen It might be that they are planning an app like sony on their tablet where it will act as a universal remote control. If so, that would be pretty sweet!

 samjpullen More like 2003.

CaptainChoco 5 pts

Hey maybe htc has something up their sleve remeber how NFC usef to mean nothing but now we got android beam@samjpullen

What the hell is wrong with you people? .. Htc's mistake last year was the lack of marketing, unlike the sgs3 or iphone5. Thats what put them in this state. The 'Saviour' device has pretty good specs if 32gb isnt enough and cloud storage is not your thing, simply buy another device. And fyi, Htc didnt make a loss last year, they just did not make much profit as they did in previous years. ps. @pHALLUS what phone doesnt look average? (S note2 is a phablet) ... The article said they will release different colours like the 8x...

tonkotsu 5 pts

Druav  pHALLUS htc's problems go way way past the lack of marketing. their phones have build issues, lack features other phones have, lack carrier distribution, and even their most highly touted features (camera) end up just being midpack at best. they have a lot to fix, and changing the home button around isn't helping at all.

Druav 7 pts

@tonkotsu I know about build issues dont worry, but which phone doesnt have? Ive seen gs3s exploding ports while charging and they are super fragile, and the iphone 5 being a scratch magnet and touch responsivness issues. Cant really complain about my one x's camera and its around 6 months old and no issues what so ever. This may not be the final product, the rendered image of the one x before release last year had 4 soft touch buttons...It turned out to be 3. I strongly believe last year was the lack of marketing cause it does have unique featured, just nobody from htc bothered to show them.

If this was supposed to be their savior, then they are done for. Looks like an ultra average phone, nothing special.

EmbodyGreatness 9 pts

What would make the phone special? What makes the S3 Special? It's Hyper Glaze Coat?

tonkotsu 5 pts

EmbodyGreatness what makes the s3 special is that its a competent phone overall. can't say the same for the one x, one x+, etc etc

lowekey 9 pts

Are you crazy??? 13 mp camera! Samsung doesn't have one phone with a 13mp camera, I'm sure that will be a big catch for some people and an opportunity for advertising, quad core 1.7ghz processor and a 1080p screen at 468ppi, and ur saying nothing special... wow

CaptainChoco 5 pts

Lg optimus has 13mp camera but its quality is horrible @lowekey

tonkotsu 5 pts

if this is the new htc phone then it's over for htc

Renaissance247 10 pts

Up the battery at least 500mAh (1,000mAh perferrable) and it would be pretty perfect.

tonkotsu 5 pts

Renaissance247 yup, while 2300 seems adequate.... for 2012's 720 screens, it will put htc in the same situation that that plagued their one x. beautiful screen, mediocre battery life.

my galaxy note 2 lasts between 1-3 days between charges... at worst 13-16hrs of heavy usage

my htc one x was 20hrs max...... sometimes I killed it in 6 hours.

LG seemed to have learned with the upcoming optimus g pro and it's 3000mAh battery yumm

DanDaniel 15 pts

no expandable didnt they learn from the oneX

Renaissance247 10 pts

DanDaniel It has 32GB of memory, why do you need more?  You shouldn't need to upload every movie and song you own (or torrented) so 32GB is plenty for apps and stuff.

tonkotsu 5 pts

 Renaissance247  DanDaniel

no renaissance, you do not tell us how we use our phones. if we consume more media then we need more storage. everyone has different usage habits and htc giving us expandable memory only increases the types of buyers. your idiot menality is the one that got them where they are today.

Renaissance247 10 pts

tonkotsu  Renaissance247  DanDaniel 100% of people upload way more songs than they actually listen to, "just to have."  They like the songs, but half of them they skip because they're "not in the mood" and save it for a rainy day, meaning, they'll listen to it once or twice a year.  It doesn't need to be there.  YouTube it when you want it.  Or do like I do, and pay for Spotify so I can have it on my phone.  Why do I do something "idiotic" like actually paying for a music service every month?  Because it only takes up the space of an app and has 13 million songs at my disposal, on demand, whenever and wherever I want them.  And it leaves my phone with 23GB of other useable storage I can have for other things, like apps and the pictures I take with the camera.  Also, I support them and the music industry (even though the artists only get a dollar per 1000+ plays or something like that).

I'm not telling you how to use your phone, I'm just telling you the purpose of not having expandable memory and how to utilize your space without it.

tonkotsu 5 pts

 Renaissance247  DanDaniel

good luck when you are in an area with poor signal, or reached your data cap. I'll still be listening to my favorite music, and you won't.

Renaissance247 10 pts

tonkotsu  Renaissance247  DanDaniel I'm actually in a great Verizon 4G area, do not travel and have unlimited data.  I have unlimited data because I let my contract from two years ago, which had unlimited data, lapse, convert into month to month, and still be the same $40 a month I've been paying since 2009 for the rest of my time with Verizon (which will be a long while, I hope).  I completely agree with your example of how I'm wrong for a good majority of the people, and I admit I didn't take into account the people that travel for work or pleasure with limited data and may not always be able to use streaming services for whatever reason.  I apologize.  That said, it still applies.

tonkotsu 5 pts

Renaissance247  DanDaniel yes and that is htc's problem. they make their devices assuming that everything will work 100% the way they planned.

they didn't take into account other variables like the ever-popular data caps and the lack of modern mobile infrastructure outside of major cities. I just feel that if LG, Samsung, and Sony can make smaller faster phones, but still manage to have microsd slots (and/or removable batteries), then htc should also be able to. unfortunately, htc continues to make poor decisions.

If this is their flagship for 2013, I don't see 2013 being any different than 2012 for them.

RobEuro 5 pts

 tonkotsu  Renaissance247  DanDaniel

I just wanted to state that there has ALWAYS been data caps for wireless. Even in 2009. It has never been unlimited. Your VZW plan is capped at 5GB. If you don't believe, read the fine print. I worked for VZW from 2006-2008, when the big data push started, and it was always 5GB. They called it unlimited because at the time, they didn't see anyone going over that with what was available.

Besides that, HTC real problem is they need to make a stock android device already. Turn Sense into exclusive widgets, a some useful apps.

RobEuro  tonkotsu  Renaissance247  DanDaniel Except that I have gone several months using over 100GB of data on Verizon without so much as being throttled so I think you are talking out your ass.

Joe Fedewa 5 pts

What is the deal with the button order? Multitasking in the middle?

tonkotsu 5 pts

Joe Fedewa you're right, what the hell were they thinking?

Renaissance247 10 pts

Joe Fedewa I'm assuming it's more convenient for one-handed operation.  A good majority of people will use it with their right hand when operating one handed (I'm left handed but feel more comfortable with right-handed one hand operation, and can type quicker with my right thumb.  [Insert unnecessary masturbation joke here]).  Having the home button on the right allows for quicker access to the home screen and, essentially, the major functions of the phone (like quickly leaving the browser to make a call).

Makes sense to me, though I know a lot of people will have trouble adjusting.

tonkotsu 5 pts

Renaissance247  Joe Fedewa again, the same poor one-sided menality.

if this was such a good idea, everyone would have embraced it. Guess what? it isn't. Htc is the only major manufacturer to put the home button on the right. They just keep digging their own grave.

Pierre Alexandre Lemay 8 pts

 tonkotsu  Renaissance247  Joe Fedewa

What the hell is wrong with you Tonkotsu? Did you wake up this mourning with a need to get mad at someone? You can have your own opinion without the need to tell people with other opinion they are idiots... The way I see it, it is a perfectly fine phone. I'm not a fan of the buttons position either but I guess, after a while, you get used to it... When I switch from one x to galaxy s3 and then to nexus 4, the position where all different but then after a few days you adjust. You don't like the phone, fine don't buy it. You can even write to HTC to let them know how you feel. But grow up and act like it!

tonkotsu 5 pts

Pierre Alexandre Lemay  Renaissance247  Joe Fedewa yup i won't buy it.. and htc's position in the market place will continue to sink because of poor decisions like this..ok..
