A while ago, we brought you a rumor of Google planning to open retail locations. It was actually something we really wanted, as the idea of playing with Google hardware (like Nexus devices) sounded awesome. However, Andy Rubin has denied those rumors. He clearly stated that “Google has no plans, and we have nothing to announce.”
He claims that the Nexus program is too young to need physical locations. But what about Google Glass? The rumor focused on that product being shown off in stores. Alas, it wasn’t meant to be.
Rubin believes that the days of needing to use a product before buying it are over. This may be true for many, but people like me still like to go use a device before spending half a grand on it. It’s a bit upsetting knowing there won’t be any Google stores. What do you guys think of this?
