Intel Details Their Dual Core Atom Processors, Talks Future Quad Cores

Intel has been pushing their way into the mobile processor game, and they took MWC as an opportunity to talk about their current line of mobile chips. The dual core Atom Z2420 has a 32nm architecture and can be clocked all the way up to 2 GHz. Now, if you just scoff at the mention of dual cores, remember that x86 and ARM chips are different beasts and should not be compared based on the number of cores. But if you’re interested in cores…

Intel said that by the holidays, they will have a line of quad core chips ready in the US. If that isn’t fantastic news, I don’t know what is. We need more competition in the mobile chip market around here, and some variety from Intel wouldn’t hurt.
