Original Galaxy Note Getting Jelly Bean And New Nature UX

Yes, the update so many people have been waiting for. Samsung is now rolling out the Jelly Bean 4.1.2 update to the original Galaxy Note. This massive update will not only bring the device up to Jelly Bean, but will also revamp the entire user interface. Shedding TouchWiz 4, the Note will receive the new Nature UX first introduced on the Galaxy S III. This means that the device will inherit all the features of the S III and Note II, including the coveted multi window. Here’s a changelog:

  • Android 4.1.2 – Build JZO54K
  • Buttery Smooth Performance & Great Stability (Thanks to Project Butter)
  • Multi-View (Multi Windows Multitasking, same as in Note II)
  • Multi-View can also be disabled
  • Page Buddy
  • Notification Panel can now be customized
  • New Additions in Notification Panel
  • Smart Rotation (Screen Display adjusts to your angle of sightings)
  • Continues Input in Samsung Keyboard (Like Swipe or Android 4.2 Keyboard)
  • Samsung’s Cloud services
  • Features like Direct Call, Smart Stay and Pop-up Play
  • New Widgets From the Galaxy S III
  • 2 Home screen modes
  • New Notifications bar
  • Google Now

It’s fantastic to see Samsung so diligently updating their older devices to current software and even new TouchWiz versions. That shows that they care about their previous customers. With the Galaxy S II rocking the same update, Samsung has updated their previous line of flagship devices to software that runs like the devices are new.

Just consider that this update is rolling out in phases and on a per-country basis. It should roll out soon to everyone with unlocked phones, followed by carrier branded phones as soon as the carriers approve the updates. So while you might not get it now, you’ll get it very soon so just keep waiting. Check for OTA updates in Settings, or try Kies for any new firmware updates if you can’t wait!
