Sprint Lights Up LTE In New York City, San Francisco, And Washington D.C.

Sprint has been fighting a tough battle with their LTE. They might have been the first carrier to offer any sort of 4G connectivity with WiMAX, but LTE is currently the standard. They’re far behind compared to AT&T and Verizon, but they’re valiantly trying to catch up. Their newest effort blankets some of the most important cities of America with LTE: San Francisco, Washington D.C., and New York City. However, San Francisco coverage is not complete. A Sprint spokesperson had this to say:

“Deployment is just beginning in San Francisco. Coverage area is somewhat hard to describe at this stage because sites generally aren’t contiguous. There are sites on air in and around SF, kind of like popcorn.”

Hopefully coverage will increase soon. I catch a bit of LTE in small places right outside of SF, but they provide less than 1 mbit down in speeds. Hopefully it’ll get significantly better! Are any of you Sprint customers in these areas?

I don't live in SF but I'm almost directly across the bay and I get LTE in the randomest of places and usually only for seconds at a time. I've noticed the speed improvements in those few seconds though....

itsabeaner I live 10 minutes away from SF and I get it in a few places. It's consistent in my house, 0 bar signal and LTE. Walk out the house, 5 bar signal and 3G.
