Wine on Android will allow you to run Windows apps on your Android devices. Alexandre Julliard, the original developer of Wine, showed off the software at the FOSDEM (Free and Open source Software Developers’ European Meeting).
Wine is ARM-friendly, and is an active work-in-progress. When Julliard was demoing the software at FOSDEM, it was apparently “horrendously slow”, but Julliard stated the main reason was due to the Android emulator he was using.
Although Codeweavers, the company that employs Julliard to work on Wine, believes there’s a lot of interest with the ARM processors, he can’t wait for the Intel x86 Atom CPUs to gain traction with Android devices because that’s when Wine on Android will really be successful.
Are you interested in Wine running on Android? What Windows apps would you like to load onto you Android device?
