ASUS Releasing 18″ Transformer AiO on April 12th For $1299

Have you ever thought that the current trend of 10.1″ tablets was just too small? Do you want something bigger, more capable, and just more awesome? Enter the ASUS Transformer AiO, an 18″ Windows 8 all in one that happens to have a screen that doubles as an Android tablet. Yes, when working as a PC, it’s a regular old computer with all the hardware in the base. Its specs are pretty good too:

  • 18.4″ 1080p IPS display with 10 point multi touch
  • 3rd Generation Core i5-3350P
  • 8GB DDR3 (1600MHz) RAM
  • NVIDIA GeForce GT 730M
  • 1TB SATA HDD
  • DVD Drive
  • 4x USB 3.0 ports
  • HDMI-out
  • Bluetooth 4.0

A respectable computer, but it has a trick up its sleeve. Grasp the display, and pull up. The entire 18″ panel comes off like a giant tablet. Inside you’ll find a Tegra 3 paired with 2GB of RAM, 32GB storage, a microSD slot, Bluetooth 3.0, and a 5 hour battery life. All this is running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. No rebooting, just an instant switch as soon as you take it out (or hit the button on the side when it’s still docked).

However, you’ll find out that it isn’t easy to use as a regular tablet. Being 5.3 pounds, it’s very heavy. It’s still an awesome concept, and even if you never use the tablet mode, you still get a really nice all in one computer with a touchscreen. ASUS is set to launch the computer on April 12th for $1299, a reasonable price. Are any of you going to get one? Tell us in the comments!
