Here is a feature that seemed obvious but was long missing from the Gmail app: action buttons in the expanded notifications. If your device is running Jelly Bean 4.1 or up, you probably know you can expand notifications to view more content and show available actions. However, the Gmail app only showed more of the email, never any buttons. But the app has been updated today with the feature. It also got some performance improvements and general bug fixes.
If you expand one of these notifications, you’ll get two buttons: Reply and archive. While it seems really simple, it’s actually incredibly useful. We’re glad to see it finally make it to the app, because it took them long enough! This should have been included with the launch of Jelly Bean 4.1, but what can you do? Be happy it’s here now, and hit the source link to download the update! Just remember that you have to have Jelly Bean 4.1 and up to take advantage of these buttons.
