People’s Sony Xperia Z Handsets Randomly Dying

It seems that a significant amount of people are having their Sony Xperia Z handsets just die out of nowhere. Some can be revived (by holding power and volume up), some never come back to life. It seems we have another sudden death issue on our hands. So far, people have not found a link between all the deaths. Some people’s devices die, some don’t.

Luckily, Sony responded to the issue. They have found a fix and will be releasing it eventually as a system update. This leaves people with dead phones to deal with warranty and not having a cell phone, but at least others might not have to suffer the same fate. Hopefully the update will come out soon, because this isn’t the kind of publicity Sony needs in the race to get to third place (behind Samsung and Apple).

Well that's...not a good thing at all.

Truly, in the middle of being idle, it died on me twice but the power and volume revived it both times. Confidence is wavering but because I really like my XZ, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the needed update.

erikief Such a pretty phone too, they did a really good job with the design on that device. It reminds me of way back when Sony design actually meant something.
